My second try at volunteering for Girl Scout camp was much more successful than year one. Kristen didn't shed a single tear and my aides didn't disappear for hours unexpectedly. I learned some new songs and successfully guided my campers in creating their own skit. We made it to every center and no one drown in the pool on "swim day". I did have one camper who wished to lodge a formal complaint against me because I would not allow her to swim in the deep pool. I recommended asking Mommy to bring her back another time. There was much pouting but eventually she decided to have fun. I guess she realized she wasn't dealing with a jackleg volunteer...I'm a second year veteran. ha!
